About Waiting For A Mate

Waiting For A Mate is a free app for sharing referral codes with people you actually know. When you sign up for a new service — a bank, ride share, food delivery, energy provider — use a mate's referral code so you both get rewarded.

How it works

Add your referral codes for services you use — Uber, UberEats, ING, Macquarie, Aussie Broadband, Netflix, or any service with a referral program. Create a group and invite your mates via a share link.

When someone needs a code, they search for the service and the app randomly picks from all available codes in their network. Both the referrer and the person signing up get rewarded.

Fair random selection

The code picker is genuinely random — no favourites, no fastest-typer-wins. Group admins can't weight the selection or see the results. When multiple mates have codes for the same service, everyone gets an equal chance.

Groups and Communities

Groups are private — only people you invite can see the codes inside. Perfect for close friends, family, or workmates.

Communities are public — anyone can join. They help you find referral codes for services your immediate friend group might not use. You can hide specific codes from communities if you only want your mates to access them.

Mates of Mates

You don't need hundreds of friends. Your 3-4 mates are each in their own groups — workmates, sports clubs, uni friends. Through Mates of Mates, your small network becomes 30-50+ connections. You always see the trust chain so you know who you're connected through.

Free to use

Waiting For A Mate is completely free. No paid tiers, no limits on codes or groups. The Android app has non-intrusive banner ads. We don't sell your data.

Why we built this

We kept switching ISPs, energy providers, banks, and food delivery apps for better deals. Every time, someone in the group chat had a referral code — but coordinating was slow, codes got buried in old messages, and the same person always responded first.

Waiting For A Mate keeps everyone's codes in one place, picks fairly, and makes sure the code is there when you need it. Built in Australia.
